What We Shoot

Below are brief descriptions of each of the object types you see on our site. While there is so much more diversity in the night sky than what is listed here, we hope that this simple overview will help give some context to the beautiful and mesmerizing bodies of the heavens.

Nebulae

Are beautiful expanses of cosmic gas and dust spread  throughout the night sky. These appear to us to be the largest objects in the heavens but are largely invisible without long-exposure photography. It's no surprise that these targets make up the majority of our images.

Galaxies

Galaxies are awe-inspiring collections of billions of stars located millions of lightyears from Earth. Capturing the full grandeur of a galaxy in an astrophotograph is a difficult process, and as such, images of these sparkling celestial pearls hold an intrinsic value in their beauty and majesty.

Star Clusters

Star clusters are groups of stars gravitationally bound to each other, and can range from thousands to millions of stars. They come in two types, open clusters, such as the Pleiades, and globular clusters, such as the Hercules cluster pictured here.

Lunar

The moon is a stunning sight, whether it appears bright and full or whether it reveals itself as a thin crescent, its ethereal beauty is captivating. Countless songs and poems about our closest celestial neighbor have been penned over the centuries, and references to it are all throughout Scripture.
