"For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens." 1 Chron 16:26
The Crescent Nebula (a.k.a. The Space Brain) is an emission nebula found in the constellation Cygnus. The Crescent is located about 5,000lys away and originates from stellar winds of Wolf-Rayet Star 136 (WR136) that interact with slower winds from earlier in its history. The "brain" look to the nebula is a result of the bi-directional nature of the winds one moving inward and the other moving outward. The color palette is a result of mapping data taken through Narrow Band filters to RGB channels. The Hydrogen Alpha (656.4nm *deep red in the visible spectrum) is mapped to the Red channel and Oxygen 3 (500.7nm *blue green in visible spectrum) is mapped to both Green and Blue. Hence the name "HOO" instead of "RGB".
